The Association of Enterprise Architects Appoints Chris Forde as CEO

September 6, 2016 - The Association of Enterprise Architects® (AEA), the leading professional organization for Enterprise Architects, has appointed Chris Forde as CEO. Forde assumes the role previously held in an interim capacity by former CEO of The Open Group Allen Brown, earlier this year.

Forde will remain as General Manager, Asia Pacific Region, The Open Group, but steps down from his role as Vice President, Enterprise Architecture. Prior to joining The Open Group, Forde worked at American Express as Vice President for Strategy and Architecture for the organization’s customer servicing capability.

As an experienced Enterprise Architect and then Chair of The Open Group Architecture Forum, from 2007-2009, Forde was instrumental in driving the successful development and launch of TOGAF® 9, an Open Group standard.

“The AEA has been doing some really exciting things to increase the market value of Enterprise Architects in recent years, and we see their stock rising all the time in organizations around the world,” commented Forde. “Innovations such as the recently launched AEA Open Badges provide members of the association with the credibility and recognition their talents deserve, and I look forward to implementing similar initiatives in the near future.”

The web-enabled AEA Open Badges program, launched in January 2016 to empower Enterprise Architecture professionals, especially the 50,000+ who are AEA members, to clearly and consistently promote their professional accomplishments online. These accomplishments are represented with a digital image, containing verified metadata that describes an individual’s qualifications and the process they went through to earn them.

Steve Nunn, CEO and President of The Open Group and former CEO of AEA added, “For as long as it has existed, the AEA has worked to raise the profile of Enterprise Architects, and been committed to providing members and professionals with the tools and support needed to achieve their professional goals.

“In his various roles at The Open Group, Chris has worked tirelessly to refine the standards and frameworks that enable Enterprise Architects to do the job they do today. He is the perfect choice to take on the leadership of the AEA, as businesses increasingly turn to Enterprise Architects to align business and IT strategies to meet the organizations’ existing and long-term objectives.” concluded Nunn.
