The objective of IT4IT certification is to make certification available to individuals who have knowledge and understanding of the IT4IT Reference Architecture, Version 2.1 standard. The Open Group IT4IT™ Reference Architecture standard comprises a reference architecture and a value chain-based operating model for managing the business of IT.

IT4IT Foundation certification within the IT4IT people certification program is now available. The purpose of IT4IT Foundation certification is to provide validation that the Candidate has gained knowledge of the terminology, structure, basic concepts of the IT4IT Reference Architecture, and understands the core principles of the reference architecture and the IT Value Chain. The learning objectives at this level  focus on knowledge and comprehension.

IT4IT Foundation certification is achieved through a 40 question exam following a course of self-study or attendance at an Accredited Training Course.


FAQ: Certification and the IT4IT Reference Architecture Version 2.1

Q. What is the impact on IT4IT Foundation certification?

A. The IT4IT Certification Program has been designed to accommodate maintenance updates to the IT4IT Reference Architecture, Version 2.0, such as Version 2.1.

  • The certification remains as IT4IT Foundation. Individuals who are currently certified in IT4IT Certification Program remain certified.
  • The conformance requirements for IT4IT certification have been updated and were published on May 3, 2017. The revised set of conformance requirements are available as Document X1702.
  • Up until November 3, 2017, candidates can study either to the original conformance requirements or the revised conformance requirements and the IT4IT Part 1 examination is currently designed to accommodate both during the interim period.
  • A revised IT4IT Part 1 examination was made available on April 24, 2017. This version of the exam accommodates both 2.0 and 2.1 to allow for candidates in the transition period.

Q. What is the impact on IT4IT Accredited Training Courses?

A. New IT4IT Accredited Training Courses accredited after May 3,  2017 have to be aligned to the revised conformance requirements for the IT4IT Reference Architecture, Version 2.1. Existing IT4IT Accredited Training Courses have until November 3, 2017 to align to the revised conformance requirements for the IT4IT Reference Architecture, Version 2.1.


Q. If I was certified before the IT4IT Reference Architecture, Version 2.1 was published, do I need to recertify?
A. No, if you achieved IT4IT certification to the earlier conformance requirements then you remain certified.
 

Q. If I am an IT4IT Commercial Licensee do I need to take out an IT4IT Reference Architecture, Version 2.1 License?
A. Yes, all current licensees need to update their licenses to IT4IT Reference Architecture Version 2.1 in order to use the 2.1 licensed documentation.
